As companies and consumers alike tussle with the journey towards a digital world, tech giant Fujitsu has produced some insightful research into the current vista.
What is clear is that consumers are winning the adoption race, with companies struggling to keep up, especially in terms of the tech-enabled workforce.
The report paints a picture of a frustrated employee-base:
74 percent of employees in the utilities sector want their company to invest more in digital technology, such as tablets and mobile phones, which give employees the ability to work remotely.
An overwhelming 92% of surveyed employees feel they have a strong understanding of the digital technology landscape but what holds them (and, of course, their employers) back, is inadequate training and concerns over security.
Unfortunately for employers, the bad report card doesn’t end there:
38 percent of utilities employees feel that their job is actually being hindered by technology services and applications.
So, it appears obvious to all but the most stubborn, that companies face a huge challenge in meeting the needs of an increasingly paperless and increasingly automated consumer-base. Furthermore, a large part of meeting this challenge will lie in empowering employees with the appropriate technology.
For WorkMobile, this is what we live for. Our range of mobile form features are designed to put the power of the business into the hands of its mobile employees whether they are home workers, engineers or field sales operatives.
This means data can easily be transmitted in seconds to any device in the field. Customer info can be updated without the need for paper. In addition, reliability and security are guaranteed as the system operates in the cloud and works offline.
So if you’ve already invested in a winning back office system or e-commerce platform and a killer app for your customers, the next step is to empower your most important resource with the technology they need to deliver real competitive advantage and top end customer service.
