Paper has long been the lifeblood that businesses have depended on to carry out their day-to-day operations. Whether it be documenting transactions, information or signing physical contracts.
However, we are now firmly in the digital era, where technology is helping to transform how businesses operate. In fact, some of the most traditional sectors are even jumping on the digital bandwagon. Our ‘Death of the paper trail’ report, for instance, found that 80% of employees within the legal sector said that their bosses have introduced paperless working policies.
But, the adoption of paperless solutions is not universal. Our findings show that over a third of businesses (39%) are yet to implement a single paper-less policy. And this is not only costing businesses large sums of money, but is also severely harming the environment.
At WorkMobile, we think enough is enough. It’s time to ditch printed documents. This is why we are challenging businesses in the worst performing sectors (construction, utilities and education) to completely ditch all forms of paper for a month, in favour of digital solutions.
The Paperless Challenge
The aim of our Paperless Challenge is to illustrate the efficiencies that can be made by businesses simply using digital solutions, such as our award-winning mobile data capture app.
In addition to agreeing to ditch paper for a month, candidates will also be required to keep a diary (a digital diary, we aren’t allowing paper exceptions for this either), which will detail how digital solutions have impacted their company – in terms of environmental impact, time savings, workflow and finances.
We expect business owners to see a reduction in their spend on paper as a result of the challenge. Especially as on average two-thirds of businesses are wasting up to £2,000 per employee each year. Putting this into context, if a business employs 50 staff or more they are creating a yearly bill upwards of £100,000. An incredibly large sum, which for small-to-medium sized businesses, is money they can ill-afford to waste.
We understand that asking a business to completely drop paper won’t be easy, and that is why our team of experts at WorkMobile will be on hand to help. We’re offering bespoke guidance as to how to use our digital solutions throughout the challenge. Along with £500 worth of digital data capture products and £500 worth of expert consultancy, to help smoothen your digital transition.
So, if your business is operating in one of the most paper-reliant sectors, why not give our Paperless Challenge a go? You may be pleasantly surprised with the findings and savings that you make.
